Check-in with your family or anyone else you’ve had dinner with to see if they’re feeling symptoms like stomach pain in the morning of the next day. “More than one person can always be infected,” Dr Fleisher says.
Breakfast by yourself
No reason to miss eating breakfast if the only symptom is a stomachache and the prospect of feeding isn’t making you queasy. Having food in your stomach may help ease some tummy pain, Dr Cohen says. Yet hang onto the regular greasy egg sandwich, says David Greenwald, MD, head of clinical gastroenterology and endoscopy at New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital. “Stick to more boring or easy stuff to eat,” he says. Through covering toast with jelly instead of sticky butter and exchanging complicated multigrain dried cereals for basic oatmeal, he recommends eliminating foods that are harmful for digestion.
